As Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner I put you, the law-abiding citizen, at the centre of policing policies here in Derbyshire and keep you and your family safe.
ABOUT ME:
- Married, with a grown up family
- Masters Degree in Law
- Local Councillor for over 13 years
- Leader of Dronfield Town Council
- Served 4 years as Cabinet member for Corporate Services at Derbyshire County Council, including Finance, Legal, Property, HR and IT managing a budget of over £46 million.
MY PLAN FOR DERBYSHIRE:
Having now served as your Police and Crime Commissioner for the past two and a half years, I have been working across the County, meeting with communities and organisations to better understand their views and priorities for policing within Derbyshire. I have found this to be instrumental in the formation and delivery of my Police and Crime Plan which is summarised by these six key priorities:
- Restore Strong Local Policing
- Reduce Burglaries, Theft and ASB
- Improve Support for Victims of Crime
- Improve Road Safety
- Drive Efficiencies, Stop waste of public money
- Tackle Rural Crime
I am now well on the way to delivering on these priorities with over 350 additional officers recruited, work done to tackle burglaries and antisocial behaviour, increased resources to combat rural crime and investments made into our road policing unit as well as speed indicator devices and community speed watch.
Significant progress has been made but I am clear that there is always more to do. With the next PCC election taking place in May we run the risk of handing control of policing in Derbyshire back to Labour. I am determined not to let this happen and I am keen to be out and about across Derbyshire visiting as many communities as I can over the coming months.
Throughout my time in public office, I have been at the forefront of providing strong leadership to reform public services. This has meant leading on prudent budgeting and robust financial management to properly prioritise and manage demands, reducing waste of resources and providing more effective and efficient services.
I will continue to apply these same principles in setting and managing Derbyshire Police’s multi-million-pound budget, as I have done since my election in 2021 and ensure that policing is delivered effectively across Derbyshire and Derby City. Above all, I will ensure the people of Derbyshire are able to go about their daily business without fear of being victims of crime. My focus is in on making sure that all our residents are safe and feel safe.
